At its January 14, 2013 meeting, the Planning Board created a standing subcommittee tasked with reviewing the zoning bylaw for the Town of Swampscott. This committee meets publicly and discusses and evaluates the zoning bylaw in order to recommend changes that could be made for the benefit of the community.
The subcommittee acts in an advisory role and reports its recommendations to the Planning Board. The Planning Board reviews the recommendations of the subcommittee and selects those revisions it would like to endorse. Town Meeting makes the final decision any zoning bylaw revision that is included in the warrant.
