One of the primary intentions of Swampscott's Energy Reduction Plan is to reduce our fossil fuel consumption. There are two significant ways in order to do this: increased energy efficiency of our facilities and offsetting our energy use with renewable energy sources.

MassCEC Community Energy Strategies Pilot Program:
Swampscott was selected (as part of a group application managed by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council) in February 2013 to take part in a clean energy pilot program designed by MassCEC and the DOER. The program was created to help local communities identify energy efficiency, renewable energy and other clean energy strategies to meet local energy needs. Swampscott worked with the City of Salem and Towns of Hamilton and Wenham to identify clean energy options for our communities.
