Municipal Design Committee

Mission:

The mission of the Municipal Design Committee is to advise the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee in matters of design for the town's public spaces, streetscapes, grounds, buildings, and graphics. The committee will create cohesive design standards to be used by the town throughout the municipality.

Description:

The Committee will research projects and identify areas in need of improvement, recruit volunteers (individual and/or companies), and search for possible funding sources. Once identified, the committee will collaborate on projects with the relevant stakeholders (departments and committees) to implement best design practices on a case-by-case basis.

Membership:

Committee membership shall consist of five (5) members. The Board of Selectmen and the School Committee will each appoint two (2) members annually. The fifth membership appointment will be rotated between the two boards annually. The members will have knowledge or experience in landscape design, horticulture, interior design, architecture, graphic design, or any other pertinent fields of expertise. The committee will elect a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and secretary annually. The Town Planner, Public Works Director, and Facilities Director will be ex-officio members of the committee.
