In order to perform any type of work in a
Town of Swampscott public way:
The contractor performing the work must be authorized
by the Department of Public Works and a
Street Opening Permit must be issued
Street Opening Permits may be obtained from the Department of Public Works office located at 22 Monument Avenue. The permit fee is $100.00 and includes all inspections.
In order to become authorized the contractor must submit the following
to the Director of Public Works:
1) Three references from another municipality
2) Have at least five years experience
3) Possess a valid Massachusetts Hoisting License
4) Certificate of insurance listing the Town of Swampscott as an additional insured
5) Annual Licensing fee of $50.00
