                                                              EXISTING LAWS

Section 1.        Chapter 119 of the Acts of 1949, as amended, is hereby further amended.

The Town may raise and appropriate the sum of $10,000 in addition to the sums already appropriated for the World War II Memorial Fund created under said Chapter.


Chapter 119 of the Acts of 1949, as amended, is further amended, by changing the designation “World War II Memorial Fund”, therein to “Swampscott War Memorial Scholarship Fund” and the Town of Swampscott is authorized to use the income from the sum of Twenty Thousand ($20,000.00) Dollars previously appropriated for the Swampscott World War II Memorial Fund to establish a scholarship fund for use in rendering financial assistance for the higher education of high school or preparatory school graduates who are residents of such Town, and to receive and expend donations for such higher education scholarship, and said newly designated fund is dedicated as a memorial to veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.   The Trustees of the World War II Memorial Fund shall become the Trustees of the Swampscott War Memorial Scholarship Fund for the administration of such Fund, with the same responsibilities and same terms of office to which appointed as Trustees of the World War II Memorial Fund, shall have a Chairman and Secretary, and all Trustee vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the Board of Selectmen.

Section 2.        All other special acts, by-laws, rules and regulations for the Town of

Swampscott which are not inconsistent with this Charter shall remain in full force.
